Interior

Images via Marian Bantjes.

Marian Bantjes is a designer, typographer, writer and illustrator working internationally from her base on a small island off the west coast of Canada, near Vancouver.

Her work is distinctly ‘classical’ and adult. It’s the sort of thing you expect your seasoned graphic design lecturer at university to produce – thought-through, purposeful and just looks really polished. Marian certainly has her own style, but it’s clear each brief has been processed with integrity.

A truly great inspiration for young designers to learn from.

“Created by Aaron Stewart and Hornet Toys, this line of comfy, cozy pillows features our first edition designs of bow-wow-beautiful doggies and purrrfectly snuggle-worthy kitties. PillowPillowPillows make a great gift for family, friends and you…”

At first glance, Alex Romans ‘the Third & the Seventh’, appears to be a beautifully edited collection of architectural imagery, and essentially, that is what it is.

What is shocking to learn however, is that the entire film is made up of computer generated imagery: the buildings, interior, plant life, cinematography and final editing were all done from inside a little box of wires, guided expertly by the imagination of one, Alex Roman.

There is also a ‘making of’ video here. Just watching 5 minutes of the process wears me out, it’s a truely great achievement.

SMUG

Smug is a quirky lifestyle store in Camden Passage, Islington that sells gorgeous homeware accessories and apparel.

Local Islington girl, Lizzie Evans, is one of those types that are so often referred to as, ‘annoyingly talented’, it’s a turn of phrase that’s terribly easy to use in these circumstances, especially given the name of her shop…. the ‘annoying’ fact is, however, that interior and graphic designer Lizzie has every right to be…. ‘Smug‘, her Camden Passage boutique is a wonderfully retro hotpot of inspiration that just oozes class. Kitchenware, glassware, clothing, ceramics and handmade toys are just some of the terribly cool and retro bits and bobs on display alongside retro furniture, artworks, accessories and textiles… as fabulously curated as it is designed, Lizzie’s little emporium of cool would make any of us feel infinitely smug!

www.weheart.co.uk also has lots of other posts well worth a gander.
